Marvel - agents of shield

So Joss's latest project.

saw ep 1 last night - really great - lots of Joss touches as you would expect.
Also great to see some Joss favourites in their - J August Richards and Ron Glass...

I've seen the first two eps, and so far in my opinion it's fairly rubbish. I can hardly believe it to be a Joss Whedon work.

I'll give it a chance for a couple of episodes more, but my hopes are not high.

This is growing in style week on week.

The one thing that bugs me as a comic reader is the dropped hints at well known Marvel characters who turn out to be other. JA Richards not being Luke Cage for example...

But Arrow feeds my Comic geek soul.

I quite like it - not quite firefly, but I think that it is a very different audience - not quite so adult.
Nice balance of weekly plots with wider threads bubbling under.

I do find it interesting the degree of connectedness to other related products - this is totally new. In this weeks episode the problem was a helmet from the Avengers assemble film that had been found - They also freely refer to other films that have been out.
Indeed the films themselves are also inter-connected.

I do wonder whether or not there are any people who are turned off because they have missed some of the franchise?

I did stop watching after ep... 3, I think. The one with the identical-clad couriers in Stockholm at the beginning.
There's just not enough characters to care about. Essentially, it's Coulson, the rest of them is too uninteresting.

I'm sure we could have said something similar after the first 3 eps of Buff.
Recently I started watching my box sets again - it was amazing how much the series developed from a pretty shaky start...

Good point - easy to forget Buffy was close to cancellation after that first half season too.

I'm not sure if it is for a different audience or whether we're just older these days

I've been watching the Tomorrow People and feeling very ancient... Sleepy Hollow, not so much.

You're right. But as of now I'll wait if Agents of Shield survives and gets better, and if it does, I'll catch up.

Nice Thor tie in this week with an evil nod to Dollhouse veteran's who are also wondering if something is up with Coulson...

Joss isn't really involved. I have tried to hang on as long as i could, giving it a chance. I think working through ten eps while bored is above and beyond.

I'm calling it quits after this week's midseason finale.

I gave up on Haven at the start of this season, Grimm and Almost Human are entertaining fluff, as is American Horror Story. The Walking Dead is kinda good again. Dracula is fun. Can't wait till Orphan Black gets back!

Got to say the last 2 eps have moved things onward - there have been touches of 'joss' but even without it beats the standard TV show.

Haven is not what it was, Grimm lost it's appeal a season ago, WH13 is being cancelled, Supernatural is just treading water, Sleepy Hollow rox, Arrow is solid & Continuum is interesting... liking Almost Human 'cos of the Dredd/Red factor... Dracula was awful... best show seems to be Lost Girl for maintaining characters & arcs.. plus the cheap sexiness of course...
