Do vamps exist?

Fairly straightforward really.... just wondering how many of you guys believe that vamps do, might, or don't exist.

Vote anyway, post your opinions if you want!

Nope, no way. Perhaps a pity, perhaps not. (It would depend on what vampires were like if they actually existed...)

Personally, I'm pro-vampire, but only while they're safely in fiction, thankyou very much...

I think vampires or other demons do not exist. A pity, they would make life more interesting, or better, less boring.

I'm kinda undecided on this one. I mean, when you see all the scarily made-up, parasol toting, long sleeve and jean-garbed people over here (despite the gross humidity) ... . Plus they have a real yen for pale skin ... . It's looking decidedly suss .

I'm in the definitely not category - there are some slightly supernatural things I'll believe in, but that is not one of them. Just seems a little too hard to believe, I guess.

Nope. Don't believe in anything supernatural at all.

While I dont believe in vampires from the sence of the TV shows and films I do think that there are beings out there that can be called Vampires for other reasons. I did vote no as we were talking about the TV and film versions

Vamps as in books, movies, and TV do not exist.

Blood-sucking demons in the form of TV executives, do exist.

Just to clarify what kind of things I meant: I wasn't referring to any particular mythology or anything. I meant straight up, drink blood and live forever vamps.

Interesting to see the votes though... I had voted maybe, on the basis that I don't really expect them to exist, but on this weird and profoundly ****ed planet of ours, nothing would really surprise me.

I get angry e-mails and guestbook entrys all the time from people who call themselfs "real" vampires. Some say they are vampires in the whole blood sucking live forever thing, which I personally think as garabge... and some just belive that vampires are real types of people that mythology exagerated... (they enjoy drinking blood or dislike sunlight.) Which I guess I can't really say isn't true, because if certain people are like this and term themselfs as vampires, so be it. Just when they start acting like vampires from the movies does it get unbelivable (I had one guy who said he was going to talk to his council of elders about my misleading site.)

Belive what you want, but my site is on fictional vampires, leave it alone!

I say why the hell not! :<
I mean are we really to believe that vampires were just made up? there has to have been some precidence for the myth surrounding them! Or on the other hand we can believe Brad Pitt in "Interview with the Vampire" that vampire stories such as Dracula were just a figment "of a demented Irishman's imagination."
If so WAHEY for the Irish...We came up with the myth that led to some great films and amazing programmes...Buffy & Angel of course.
But if your like me and believe in them then try and see if you can find this book "True Monster Stories" by Terry Deary it has a section in it about vampires. if you cant get it and are interested send me an e-mail at: jezz_k86@hotmail.com and i'll send it on to you.

In all fairness Buff - the idea or mythology of vampires didn't originate in Ireland... What my boy Brad was referring to was the 'modern' mythology - garlic, mirrors, etc, much of which stemmed from 'Dracula' by Bram Stoker, who was of course Irish.

So don't let them blame us for everything.

Cool

I have one unwavering belief.

That is that you cannot be certain of ANYTHING!

And I'm not completely firm on that.

So I'll allow for vamps but I'm not going to buy vampire insurance anymore than I'm going to buy lottery tickets.

Descartes was a doubting poseur. Good with graphs though.

Once I had a reeaally great dream about a vampire, so I said to my best friend " I wish there were real vampires!" And she said " there are! I'm part." She wasn't kidding. So now I believe. If she says it's the truth, it's the truth. Believing in vampires won't hurt anyone, and it's not like I'm running off to buy garlic and crosses or anything. I live right next to a cemetary, which doesn't bother me in the least and I go out at night. I just keep an open mind, that's all.
