B-TeleVision??

Okay, a concept taken from the old B-Movies but I think in todays society and television there are many shows that fall into the category.

I would class shows like:

Earth: Final Conflict
UltraViolet
Brimstone
Conquest Earth
Dark Angel (sorry, no way is this prime time quality)

Many more beside those would fit into the category (name some if your bored enough ) but what do you think that the benefits or problems would be of being classed in this category. Infact, do you believe that a B-TeleVision category exists today?

Let me know your thoughts

Depends what you mean by 'B' television

If you mean worthwhile stuff that's a notch below Buffy etc. , then there's loads and if it wasn't there we'd only get about 2 shows a day on TV

If you are talking about production values & budgets there are loads too but some may be of real quality even though they have small budgets

I'll assume the second for now - I'd put Mutant-X, Andromeda, SG1 and maybe Farscape in that category of stuff i see regularly - mostly cable shows or secondary networks stuff I guess. But you know I like all of those

I'd pull Dark Angel out because they do spend the money and it shows - in the size of the regular cast if nothing else, even if you don't like the way the show goes...

BTW what is Conquest Earth?

Also taking THP's second meaning I'd also include shows like Andromida and Farscape and pull Dark Angel which does have a primetime primary network buget and production values (and is of reasonable quality story wise but I had said I was ignoring that )

I actually wondered if by my second definition B5 shouldn't be in that group... but it seems like heresy

SG1 has a decent budget btw. I'd stick Red Dwarf in here... there were lots of funny B-movies.

Ultraviolet doesn't belong in any B-category. I don't care how much money they spent, that show was complex and beautiful. (The writing alone...)

I'd toss in Sci-Factor, Special Unit 2, Xena, and Hercules, off the top of my head.
